Abstract:
This paper evaluates some of the lesser-documented factors that influence the annealing response of metallic wires, as for example, thermal-mechanical processing history, state of the impurities, and redundant work hardening. It describes a methodology for analyzing the transfer of thermal energy to the conductor. Incorporating these factors into a computer model helps bridge the gap between theory and practice, thereby simplifying the means to predict time-temperature parameters necessary for the completion of annealing or other thermally activated processes.
